Ongoing projects help Lewis University Airport reach new heights

Lewis University Airport continues to expand and improve its facilities through new construction projects. Hanson Engineers has provided architectural and engineering services for the following recently completed projects:

Executive terminal hangar-This 30,000-square-foot building contains 16,000 square feet of hangar area and 14,000 square feet of space for offices and a restaurant. Hanson Engineers also provided the design and construction inspection services for the executive terminal hangar's parking lot.

Three aircraft hangars-We provided design and construction services for three separate aircraft hangars. Hangar 2 is a 15,000-square-foot building that contains offices, a parts area and an aircraft maintenance shop. Hangars 500 and 900 are each 20,000 square feet and feature individual nested aircraft hangar units and stall hangars.

Access taxiways, aircraft parking aprons and parking lots-These new additions support the airport's long-term development plans.

Lewis University Airport's Runway 9-27 was extended to better meet the aviation needs of Will County-a rapidly growing area in Illinois. A new all-weather runway-Runway 19-is also being constructed to accommodate large corporate aircraft.
