SAME to tour the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. -- The Illini Post of the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) will meet for lunch and a presentation of the library’s design and construction at Hanson Professional Services Inc in Springfield, Ill. Following the meeting, the group will tour the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield, Ill. Hanson Professional Services Inc., a member of SAME, is coordinating the tour scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 11.

The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum is a 200,000 square foot complex located in downtown Springfield. The historical library houses, among other things, the world’s largest collection of pre-presidential Lincoln material. In a separate but connected facility, a multimedia, state-of-the-art museum houses three theaters; 3-dimensional history exhibits designed by internationally acclaimed scholars; a gift shop; and a large foyer for public and private functions. Hanson provided site geotechnical, civil and structural engineering services. In addition, we provided land acquisition and relocation services for the city of Springfield.

Lunch and a presentation will begin at 12:30 p.m. at Hanson’s office, located at 1525 S. Sixth St. in Springfield. Following lunch, the tour will starting at 2:00 p.m. at library and museum, located at 212 N. Sixth St. in Springfield.
