Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) Presentation

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – The Illini Post of the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) is hosting a Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) presentation on March 27 beginning at 3:30 p.m. at the Illinois Air National Guard Base, Building P-48, located at the Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport in Springfield, Ill.

Retired Col. Gene Blade will present information on how BRAC will affect communities in central Illinois and what state, city and local leaders can do to explore the possibilities to keep local Army and Air National Guard units. The seminar also includes a tour of the 45,000-square-foot 183rd Composite Support Facility, which was one of the first Air National Guard facilities to integrate anti-terrorism and force protection standards.

Col. Blade, former United States Property and Fiscal Officer (USPFO) for the state of Illinois, retired in 1994 and currently serves as a special consultant for Hanson Professional Services Inc. During his tenure as USPFO, he established and facilitated a partnering program for the National Guard design and construction program.

This event is open to the public, and the cost is $8 for SAME members and $10 for non-members, which includes a boxed lunch. For reservations, contact Beth Kohl at (217) 747-9267 or bkohl@hanson-inc.com no later than Friday, March 23.
