Loos named one of Peoria’s 40 leaders under forty

PEORIA, Ill. — Lucinda “Cindy” A. Loos, P.E., was recently recognized as one of the 2007 40 leaders under forty by InterBusiness Issues, a publication of Central Illinois Business Publishers, based in Peoria, Ill. The annual award is given to candidates based on their accomplishments, leadership qualities and community involvement.

Loos, a professional engineer and regional vice president for Hanson, was recognized for being a dynamic leader and trailblazer in her career as well as her community.

As a regional vice president, Loos has served as project manager for Hanson’s architectural, engineering and management projects in Peoria and surrounding communities, the client liaison for the company’s local government market sector, and a coach and mentor to the company’s regional employees and technical staff. Serving Hanson’s local-government market, Loos and her colleagues increased business last year by 22 percent, increasing the company’s local government market revenues to more than $6.5 million.

During her career, Loos has been involved in major transportation and infrastructure initiatives and mentoring activities as well as organizations including the Women’s Transportation Society, the Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce, Girl Scouts of the USA and the American Cancer Society. She also graduated from the Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce’s Community Leadership and Political Leadership schools.

“Cindy is a recognized leader and an asset to our company and the Peoria community. She has been instrumental in helping Hanson grow and reach new levels of success. Cindy’s personal and professional life exemplifies her dedication to education, engineering, mentoring and community involvement, and she is very deserving of this honor,” says Sergio “Satch” Pecori, Hanson’s president and CEO.

Loos recently received the Princeville Pride Award from Princeville schools for her role in applying for a Safe Routes to Schools grant. She also is a member of Bradley University’s College of Engineering and Technology Executive Advisory Council. She holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Eastern Illinois University (1992) and a second bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Bradley University (1997).
