Austin marks 25 years at Hanson

SPRINGFIELD, Ill.—Jimmie L. Austin Jr. recently celebrated 25 years at Hanson Professional Services Inc. Austin joined Hanson as a surveyor in 1983, and he now serves Hanson’s local government market as an engineering technician. His experience includes providing CADD design, drafting and surveying services on numerous civil, transportation and site-development projects. Also, he has surveyed sites for power plants, coal mines, highways, parking lots, hazardous waste sites and county bridges.

Austin’s most memorable projects include assisting with design of the MacArthur Boulevard project in Springfield, Ill., and providing drafting services for Interstate 39/U.S. 20 roadway maintenance and repair. Through a contract with the Illinois Department of Transportation’s (IDOT) management assistance program, he participated in helping disadvantaged business enterprises (DBE) to achieve IDOT DBE certification.

Austin serves as chairman for Hanson’s Children’s Miracle Network committee and is a committee member for Hanson’s United Way campaign. He is a founding member of the Young Springfield Professionals Network and serves as Hanson’s liaison to the Black Chamber of Commerce.
