Feger honored as Outstanding Engineer of the Year by Capital Chapter of Illinois Society of Professional Engineers

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Thomas M. Feger, P.E., of Hanson Professional Services Inc. was named Outstanding Engineer of the Year by the Capital Chapter of the Illinois Society of Professional Engineers (ISPE). The annual award is based on educational and collegiate achievements; professional and technical society activities; civic and humanitarian activities; continuing competence; and engineering achievements.

A member of the ISPE since 1976, Feger has successfully served both the private and public sector of the engineering industry within the Capital Chapter area. Additionally, he has been involved with the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce’s Quantum Growth Partnership (Q5) infrastructure committee.

Feger joined Hanson in 1999 as a senior civil engineer, serving the local government market. He has managed or been involved in many sewer and water-related projects in Illinois and the Midwest. He has contributed to a range of projects, including the design of storm sewers for the Interstate 74 reconstruction in Peoria; sewer assessment and rehabilitation planning studies for the central business district and areas surrounding Washington Park in Springfield; and replacement of sewers in Springfield, Peoria, Indianapolis and at the Crane Naval Surface Warfare Center in Crane, Ind.

He also has been involved in many professional and community activities. He is the past president of the American Public Works Association’s Prairie Branch; serves as St. Aloysius Catholic School’s development committee chairman; and was a youth baseball coach for 27 years.

Feger holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (1969) from the University of Missouri at Rolla.
