Keim recognized with 2008 Woman of Excellence Award
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Jo Ellen Keim, CPA, senior vice president and chief financial officer at Hanson Professional Services Inc., was recently recognized with the 2008 Woman of Excellence Award at the Smart Women, Smart Money seminar, presented by Illinois State Treasurer, Alexi Giannoulias.
This award honors a woman who has achieved a high-level position in the financial world, inspires other women to pursue financial careers, and is a strong advocate for financial literacy in her community.
Keim joined Hanson in 1995, and she is responsible for financial reporting; budget preparation; federal, state and local tax reporting; project cost accounting; and corporate information technology services.
Keim is the highest-ranking woman at Hanson, a national, employee-owned, 420-person engineering, architectural and management services firm. She also is the corporate treasurer and serves on Hanson’s board of directors.
Prior to joining Hanson, Keim served as the director of state accounting for the state of Illinois, Office of the Comptroller; director of membership services for the Teachers’ Retirement System; instructor in the Department of Economics and Business Administration for Illinois College; manager of real estate accounting for McDonald’s Corp.; and in-charge accountant for Ernst & Young in Chicago.
She holds a bachelor’s degree (1975) in finance from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana and a master’s degree (1985) in accounting from the University of Illinois at Springfield.
